【Call for Participants】Design Thinking Workshop presented by Stanford University d.school lecturers

※2019年度募集との合同開催*Jointly with the 2019 participants

WASEDA-EDGE人材育成プログラムは、米国スタンフォード大学d.schoolより講師をお迎えし、デザイン思考を活用したアイデア創出ワークショップを開催します。
d.school は、シリコンバレーのみならず、世界のイノベーションに影響を与える、デザイン思考の世界的発信地として有名です。早稲田にいながらデザイン思考の総本山から学べる貴重な機会です。ぜひご参加ください。

WASEDA-EDGE Global Talent Development Program welcomes d.school lecturers from Stanford University to hold an idea creating workshop, utilizing design thinking* methodology.
d.school aims to create an educational experience that helps people unlock their creative possibilities and adapt to the world. It is renowned as a global base for the transmission of design thinking that influences innovation not only in Silicon Valley but in the world.
It is an invaluable opportunity to learn from the headquarter of design thinking, while being in Waseda.

◆完全オンラインとなります。様々な工夫を凝らして、オンラインならではのデザイン思考の学びを提供します。
◆講義は全て英語で行います。(英語力の目安TOEIC750以上)
◆グループでプロジェクトに取り組む参加型のワークショップになります。(グループ分けは実施側が行います)
◆全日程 必ずご参加いただける方のみお申込みください。

◆Complete online style, and provide various learning methods unique to the online.
◆All lectures are held in English (English proficiency standard: over TOEIC 750 score)
◆This is a participatory workshop** where participants work on projects in preassigned groups.
◆Only participants who can attend the entire program are eligible to apply.

* What is design thinking?

Design thinking is an approach for applying design skills and methods to frame opportunities and create innovative solutions—in design and other disciplines. This approach can be used for creating new products, systems, and services.

** Workshop description:

This workshop will be a participatory introduction to the skills and methods of design thinking. Students will participate in discussions and activities in order to practice and to identify ways they can use design skills in their own work

* We will hold 40 people on the day together with the students who have already decided to attend
* If the number of applicants exceeds capacity, selection will be made.

■参加対象Applicant Eligibility

Skyward EDGEコンソーシアムに所属する大学(滋賀医科大学、東京理科大学、山形大学、多摩美術大学、早稲田大学)に属する大学院生(強い希望があれば学部3年生以上も可)。教員(若手研究者)等は応相談。社会人。
Graduate students of Skyward EDGE consortium member universities(Shiga University of Medical Science, Tokyo University of Science, Yamagata University, Tama Art University, Waseda University) and working adults.
* Junior and senior undergraduate students with strong desire may also apply.
* Faculty (young researchers), among others, are subject to negotiation.

社会人:10万円(税込)Working Adults: 100,000 yen
    (Skyward EDGEコンソーシアムの対象大学以外の学生を含む)

■講師Lecturers

Thomas Both

Thomas is a designer and design educator whose passion is helping people understand the practice of human-centered design—and their ability as designers—to innovate how they learn, think, and solve problems. He is director of the Designing for Social Systems program at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school) at Stanford University. In this program, he teaches professionals how to apply design thinking to complex social challenges and facilitates workshops for social impact leaders to develop a more human and strategic practice.

Scott Witthoft

Professional space and product designer; Associate Professor of Practice at University of Texas at Austin; former Fellow and lecturer at the Stanford University d.school. Scott is author of the book “Make Space,” a tool for designing collaborative spaces. He has a professional background in structural engineering.

David Janka

Design consultant and creative strategist; former Fellow and current lecturer at the Stanford University d.school. David has a medical degree from Stanford and works to integrate design thinking principles into medical education, healthcare delivery, and medical device design.

* Requires a PC connected to the network: We will use several online tools simultaneously, you need to have PC with stable high speed network connection. (PC with mobile device over Wi-Fi connection is not recommended.)
