MicroMBA

主に理系バックグラウンドの大学院生、学部生、ポスドク、若手サイエンティスト・エンジニア等を対象に、MBAレベルのビジネス知識を英語で講義するミニ・プログラムを実施します。
本講義はUCSDとの提携プログラムで、すべてのセッションを英語で行います。
修了者には、早稲田大学ビジネス・ファイナンス研究センターおよびRady School of Management, UCSDの連名による修了証を授与します。

A mini-program, “MicroMBA” will be held for Undergraduates, Graduated students, Ph.D. candidates, Post-Docs, and Junior scientists and engineers who has Science/Technical background.
In this program, lectures on MBA-level knowledge of business will be given.

MicroMBA is a tie-up program with University of California at San Diego, thus all sessions will be held in English.

The Certificate of Completion from Institute for Business and Finance, Waseda University and Rady School of Management, UCSD will be awarded.

Kanetaka Maki(牧 兼充)
Associate Professor of Finance, WASEDA Business School, WASEDA University
(早稲田大学 大学院経営管理研究科 准教授)

慶應義塾大学環境情報学部卒業。
カリフォルニア大学サンディエゴ校にて、博士(経営学)を取得。
慶應義塾大学助教・助手、カリフォルニア大学サンディエゴ校講師、スタンフォード大学リサーチ・アソシエイト、政策研究大学院大学助教授を経て現職。
日米において、大学を基盤としたイノベーション・システムの構築に従事。
特に日本においては、政府、地方自治体、大学等の委員会に関わり、有効なイノベーション政策のあり方について模索している。

Prof. Kanetaka Maki received his Ph.D. in Management from the University of California San Diego. He received Master of Media and Governance and B.A. in Environmental Information, both from Keio University.
Prof. Maki’s research interests involve fields of socio-economics of innovation & entrepreneurship, science policy, and university-industry technology transfer. He has three streams of research contribution: (1) the institutional design of entrepreneurship at research universities; (2) methods to improve startup success rates; and (3) quantitative research of innovation systems, particularly comparing the US and Japan.
Prior to joining WBS, Prof. Maki worked at GRIPS, Stanford University, University of California, San Diego and Keio University. In both the U.S. and Japan, he has been actively involved in designing and implementing the innovation system around university. Particularly in Japan, he is a committee member at national and local governments to create effective innovation policy.

AI and Management (Saturday, February 26)

Mario Moline
Assistant Professor of Accounting

Mario Milone's research focuses on the real effects implications of financial statements and accounting rules as well as the understanding of information flow and information processing. His research aims to use new theoretical and empirical techniques borrowed from artificial intelligence to enhance our grasp of the trade-offs embedded in accounting rules and to help build more efficient regulatory frameworks.

Mario earned an MRes in Finance and a Ph.D. in Finance from Paris-Dauphine University in 2018. He also obtained an MEng in Computer Science from INSA Toulouse and an MRes in Artificial Intelligence from University Paul Sabatier in Toulouse. Mario has spent a year at Harvard University during his Ph.D. and a year at Hong Kong University during his Computer Science studies.

Mario was awarded the prize for the best thesis in Corporate Finance by the French Finance Association in 2019.

Professor Ikegami received Doctor of Business Administration from Hitotsubashi University in 2015. After working for Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Tokyo office, he joined MARS Japan. While he is working for Softbank EC Holdings as a Director of New Business Development, he also served as BOD of several subsidiaries. He also worked for Nissay Capital Co. Ltd., before joining Waseda Business School. His research interest includes corporate strategy, global management, new business development and global leadership. He is a member of international committee of JAIBS (Japan Academy of International Business Studies). He is also an outside company auditor of Toyo INK SC Holdings.

Experimental Economics (Saturday, March 5)

Marta Serra Garcia
Associate Professor of Economics and Strategic Management

Serra-Garcia conducts research in behavioral and experimental economics. Her research focuses on how individuals acquire and transmit information and how this in turn affects their preferences and behavior. Among others, her research studies how the desire to preserve a positive self-image shapes individuals’ ethical decision-making, such as lying and charitable giving. Serra-Garcia’s research has been published in numerous journals including American Economic Review, Management Science, and Psychological Science. She has also been recognized as the 2020 Best 40 under 40 MBA Professors.

Prior to coming to the Rady School, Serra-Garcia was an assistant professor at the University of Munich. Serra-Garcia earned her Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Economics at Tilburg University. She earned a B.A. in Business Administration from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona.

Shigeru Nishiyama(西山 茂)

(早稲田大学 大学院経営管理研究科 教授)

早稲田大学政治経済学部卒業。米ペンシルバニア大学ウォートン校よりMBA取得。早稲田大学より博士号取得。監査法人ト-マツ等にて会計監査、株式公開コンサルティング、M&A支援、人材育成などの業務に従事。
2002 年から早稲田大学で教鞭をとり、2006年から現職。会計や財務といった数字をベースに理論と実務の両面から経営を考える授業やゼミを担当している。国内主要企業の監査役を歴任。会計・財務に関する著書多数。公認会計士。

Upon graduation from WASEDA University, Professor Nishiyama started his professional career with Tohmatsu & Co., which is a member firm of Deloitte in 1984. After obtaining MBA from University of Pennsylvania, he performed various kinds of projects, such as auditing, IPO consulting, M&A consulting, management control system consulting and training for managers in many Japanese companies through Tohmatsu & Co. and his own firm as a Japanese CPA. He has taught Accounting and Corporate Finance from perspectives of general management at WASEDA since 2002. His current position has begun since 2006 and served as the Assistant Dean of WASEDA’s Graduate School of Commerce from 2008 to 2010 and from 2012 to 2014.

Social Entrepreneurship and Behavioral Economics (Saturday, March 12)

Ayelet Gneezy
Carol Lazier and Family Endowed Chair in Social Innovation and Impact, Professor of Behavioral Sciences and Marketing, Faculty Director for Center for Social Innovation and Impact (CSII), Director of U.S.-Israel Center on Innovation and Economic Sustainability (USIC)

Dr. Gneezy's research has been published in leading academic journals, including Science, PNAS, the Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and the Journal of Consumer Research, and was featured by top media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Scientific American, The Huffington Post, and The Atlantic.

Her research addresses a wide variety of questions pertaining to consumer behavior such as behavioral pricing, prosocial behavior & charitable giving, social preferences (e.g., promise accounting, negative reciprocity, fairness), and factors affecting individuals’ quality of life. In her research, Dr. Gneezy collaborates with both small (e.g., a local winery) and large (e.g., Disney) firms and organizations, allowing her to conduct field experiments and test her predictions in “the wild.” Professor Gneezy is also collaborating with organizations and researchers interested in questions that address the many challenges facing our society such as poverty, female genital mutilation (FGM), and health.

She is the co-founder and faculty director of the Rady School of Management’s US-Israel on Innovation & Economic Sustainability (USIC), and the Center for Social Innovation & Impact (CSII).

Dr. Gneezy comes to UC San Diego from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, where she earned her PhD in Marketing. Before embarking on her academic career, she managed the strategic planning department of DataPro Proximity (a subsidiary of BBDO Worldwide).
